SuperAttic™ Installation in Amston, CT

This Amston, CT homeowner reached out to Fogarty's Home Services concerned about their attic space. They were using this space for storage, but it wasn't energy efficient. Their attic floor was allowing air from inside the house to leak into the attic where it was lost. For each cubic foot of air that leaks out, a cubic foot of air from the outside enters the bottom of the house, making the lower levels cold and drafty. Their attic was a hostile environment because of the increased cold in the winter and very uncomfortable heat in the summer in this space. To combat this issue, Fogarty's Home Services installed our SuperAttic™ system. We use SilverGlo™ EPS foam insulation board with graphite on the underside of the roof deck. The graphite gives it superior R-value and a foil face on both sides reflects heat out in summer and back in during winter. The roof is still vented. No harsh chemicals are sprayed in your home, like spray foam. The attic is now part of the conditioned space in the home, and ducts in the attic are no longer in a hostile environment. The attic is clean, less dusty and suitable for storage. We Fix Uncomfortable Homes!

Insulating a Basement with Foamax Board in Orange, MA

This homeowner in Orange, MA called us in order to bulk up her basement's insulation. When we arrived in the home, we noticed that her basement's poured concrete walls were not insulated. This is fairly common -- but it can affect the temperature of the basement, making it colder than you would like it to be and, unfortunately, harder to heat. This meant that their energy bills were higher than they should be.

The best way to protect and insulated poured concrete walls is to use insulation board. We installed our Foamax polyisocyanurate (Polyiso) foam insulation boards on all of the walls of this basement. They install right over the concrete! As a bonus, they are also flame retardant, so it can be exposed in the basement unlike other types of foam. This insulation board makes a noticeable difference in a space -- the basement feels warmer and more comfortable, and the home is easier to heat!
